For instance, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, KL Rahul they all are the products of the IPL before making it big at the national level. These Most Famous IPL Players 2018 are the most sought players in IPL season 11 and people will be looking forward to having some great games from them.
These players grabbed most of the spotlight while consistently astonishing everyone by their brilliant performances and got what they deserved but there are some players who despite performing consistently well and stepping up every time their team needed them were mostly ignored by the selection committee for the international squad. Their performance has been either overshadowed by other star players or they rarely got chance to show their real talent. These 5 Reasons why KKR may not win IPL 2018 has something related to it.
5. Murali Vijay
Murali Vijay is one of the finest outcomes of the Indian Premier League. He is one of the Best Test batsmen in India, and he has always lived up to the reputation of a Test player. He has a brilliant record in the IPL playing for different franchises and has delivered match winning knocks but he was never noticed as a T20 specialist.
In the 100 IPL matches, Murali Vijay has scored 2511 runs with a decent average of 26.43 and a strike rate of 123.39. He even has 2 hundred in the IPL which is pretty rare and enough to define his capabilities as a T20 player and got him a spot in the National team.
In the upcoming 11th edition of the IPL, Vijay will be performing for his former franchise, Chennai Super Kings who are back into action after a 2-year suspension. CSK bought Vijay for Rs. 2 crores.
4. R Vinay Kumar
R Vinay Kumar is as good as they come. He is one of the most consistent performers. The skipper of the Karnataka team has been a tremendous success with the bowl in the domestic cricket and has drive Karnataka through numerous winning occasions single-handedly.
Although Kumar managed to reserve a spot in the national team with the emergence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami, his national career went downhill. He has been consistent in the IPL throughout the years but didn’t get many chances in the previous two seasons.
Kumar is placed 8th in the all-time highest wicket-takers in the history of Indian Premier League.
In the IPL 2018, Vinay Kumar will be representing Kolkata Knight Rider‘s pace attack along with the Australian Mitchell Starc. Let’s just hope R Vinay Kumar could keep his top game and could turn the tables for him.
3. Piyush Chawla
Piyush Chawla is undoubtedly one of the most promising Spinning talents in India, never could really make it to the international cricket but has performed magnificently for the domestic circuit. He was a part of India’s World Cup winning team but since then he has been out of the team.
The emergence of impact players like Yuzvendra Chahal from the IPL has a deep impact on Chawla’s international career, but he has continued to impress throughout the entire IPL. Been consistently contributing to the best bowling list and even with the bat sometimes for every team he has played in the league so far.
Chawla is the fourth highest wicket-taker in the history of the IPL. In 129 matches he has picked 126 wickets. Using RTM to retain him was a bargain done right for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
2. Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane has been successful in the IPL and even in the international circuit but not as much as he should have. The Mumbaikar batsman is one of the most prominent Indian batsmen in Tests and ODIs. But so far failed to impress selection committee as a T20 player despite having a pretty handy record in the IPL so far.
In the IPL, Rahane has scored 3057 runs in 111 matches with an average of 33.59 and a strike rate of 120.59. He has finished in the top 10 on the list of highest run scorers in IPL on four occasions. With his best performance in IPL 2015 where he scored 540 runs in 14 matches at an average of above 49. He was second on the list after David Warner and missed the orange cap by just 22 runs. Rajasthan Royals used the RTM card to retain the services of Rahane.
1. Robin Uthappa
Robin Uthappa unarguably is the most underrated player in the history of the IPL. He has consistently delivered for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, always scoring close to 400 runs in each season he has played.
Uthappa made his debut for India in 2006 and was a part of the T20 world cup winning squad in 2007, he has been in and out of the national team many times. He is a quality player who deserved to be picked in the team but the lack of vulnerable spots in the lineup, he never got his dues. Uthappa has a pretty decent record in the IPL so far, he is the 6th highest run scorer in the IPL and has scored 3735 runs in 149 matches with an average of 29.40 and a strike rate of 131.79. This year in the IPL 2018 he will be the Vice-captain with Dinesh Karthik leading the KKR squad.
